Saba gives MSc instead of MD?

I read somewhere that Saba doesn't offer MDs anymore since it switched to the Netherland's standard where MSc = MD.

Does this affect anything in a hypothetical sense? On their diploma after graduation does it say MSc? If you don't match, are you left without an MD?

How much time to study every day?

Prospective student here! As someone who would rather study by myself than go to class, I am a little hesitant about Saba's mandatory attendance policy & curriculum.

1. What does your rough daily schedule look like?
2. Do you have to pay attention to the material in class, or is it possible to just put earbuds in and study by yourself while in class? Any downsides to this?
3. How much time do you have to study after class, and is it enough?
4. Does this leave you with any time to workout or do some fun activities?

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone! I was really thinking of applying to Saba soon for the September 2020 entry. And I was just wondering my chances of admission. If anyone knows stats for admission pls let me know! And I know there are downfalls but also benefits going the Caribbean route, so let’s pls keep this a positive thread :)

Stats:

GPA: 3.23
sGPA: 3.57

MCAT: 496

Third year of undergrad at uOttawa.

ECs: lots of research(clinical and lab), hospital volunteering, premed summer course done in the states, president of a few University clubs, medical administrative work experience...

I’m just feeling really nervous so pls let me know :)

(I’ll be applying to med schools again next year, but I’d like to have an admission in my pocket)

Transfer my previous med schools credit to SABA????- former US med student

Hello,
I used to attend a US medical school for almost three years. I passed the first two years of medical school and scored over 220 on Step I USMLE on first attempt. Had some personal issues to deal with the third year and could not complete the training. I got some stipend from the military so I had to pay back time. Afterward, with the GI Bill I was able to complete a PA program and currently am practicing in internal medicine. I still want to transfer my credit to one of the carribean schools and complete my MD. Is this worth it? Do I have a chance for residency? Would SABA accept?

Any students get screwed by SABA?

I just applied for the May 2020 start and had submitted all my documents and paid all of my fees. I spent about 15k on expenses to get ready for school and then out of nowhere the school rescinded my acceptance without giving a reason. It was absolute hell. The school did not say a word about why.

I started to learn more about the school and to google some more and found that the school was involved with fraud and many lawsuits between staff and former students.

Honestly, I don't see how this school can get out of a contract without cause or proof of misbehaviour or something but they also offered me a 20k scholarship. I happened to miss that email because I was competing in an international XPRIZE competition and we were in first place and so I was super busy. I then got a later message indicating I was being offered a 27000$ scholarship. So if you want to gamble on your education and they are willing to throw you a scholarship, just ignore them and they will offer you more.

The bigger problem is the lack of transparency or accountability in the rescinding of my application. I had shared with one of the professors that I had a back problem and was taking some medicine for this and asked about if there was a pharmacy. I would have no problems getting my care from home and bringing in my meds.

Anyhow, I can only assume that it is on the basis of my back problem that I shared that they terminated the acceptance. I was fully accepted and fully paid and they responded to none of my emails about ways to come to an agreement where I could transfer or get anything out of the deal.

This school is a crooked school and I intend to make sure the world knows about it. If you have ever had a problem with SABA, please send me a PM because I want to hear your story.

If enough of us get together, we can pool resources and take this large tax avoiding company down.

I have lost months of my life and thousands of dollars and they withdrew from the contract without explanation. This is how the school behaves. YOU HAVE NO SECURITY if you go there. Suppose you fail a class, they could decide you are dismissed and there would be nothing you could do about it. They literally do not respect contracts.

Anyhow, I hope this story helps some people. I had been doing research on covid for a year before this happened. I was at one of the world's top Artificial Intelligence institutions and I just wanted to get a quick MD so that I could expand on my research. Instead, I am stuck without a paddle.

Hope to hear from you,

Don't give up, I want to help you get justice.
